Picnic at the National Zoo an Outstanding Success
Congratulations are due Brothers Walter Hoenes, of Friendship Lodge No. 12, and Albert James, of Langdon Lodge No. 26, of the Grand Lodge membership committee who organized and executed yesterday's picnic at the National Zoo.
The event on Saturday, July 18, was an outstanding success! The picnic was well-attended by members from nearly every lodge in the jurisdiction as well as family of our members and prospective members. The food and entertainment were excellent and even the weather cooperated - warm, but not hot, with light breezes and no rain. Proceeds from the picnic will be donated to the Grand Master's charity, the Fisher Houses of Washington, DC.
An unexpected but very welcome contribution came from two representatives of Federal Lodge No. 1, Free and Accepted Masons, of the District of Columbia, who came to the picnic, in an unprecedented demonstration of inter-fraternal support and fellowship, bearing a check from their Masonic lodge for the Grand Master's charity in the amount of three thousand dollars! (If this is representative of the so-called Masonic conspiracies, we're pretty sure Morgan had it coming.)
The Grand Master thanks all who attended and participated in this event, and the Brothers of Federal Masonic Lodge No. 1. And to Brothers Hoenes and James, a well-earned Bravo Zoolu!
